U8 - U10 Fall 2020 Season Tryout Info

Tryouts for our 2011 - 2014 age groups were due to take place in the week of April 20.

Due to Covid-19 tryouts have been postponed and we will be forming teams for the Fall 2020 season based on our coaches' assessments of players from the most recent seasons.

New players will be assessed over the course of the summer events (jamborees, camps, practices and games) and our plan is to finalize rosters in mid August to make sure everyone is in the best spot for their continued development as soccer players. We've included more detail of our specific plan for each age group below.

All players (both returning and new) should click the 'sign up for tryouts' on our player portal to get in the system for the upcoming season. New players can also email us (info@seattleceltic.com) with a short paragraph on their playing experience. We will touch base via telephone/email from April 22-24 to invite players to their respective teams for the season. We will follow this up with an email containing all the relevant info including a registration invite via the player portal.

Our Fall season will kick off the week of August 24. This is the season that players are registering for and we are very optimistic that we will be back on the field by this time.

As with previous years, summer play in the shape of camps, practices and tournaments (if they happen) will be optional and so families will not be charged unless they opt in for them.

Tentative Plan For Each Age Group

2011 Boys

We currently have 9 teams for the Spring 2020 season and so coaches will select teams based on their assessments of players from Spring. Typically we have an additional 20-30 new players join during the Spring tryout. Initially we will place these new players in a pool ahead of finalizing Fall season rosters in mid August.

2012 Boys

We also currently have 9 teams at this age group for the Spring 2020 season and so coaches will select teams based on their assessments of players from Spring. Typically we have an additional 30-40 new players join during the Spring tryout. Initially we will place these new players in a pool ahead of finalizing Fall season rosters in mid August.

2013 Boys

We currently have 3 teams for the Spring 2020 season. Typically we have an additional 40-50 new players join during the Spring tryout for this age group. While coaches have a good idea of the placement of our current players, our plan is to invite ALL 2013s to a player pool. We will form tentative teams for jamborees and team camps ahead of finalizing Fall season rosters in mid August.

Some 2013 teams will play in the league (similar to 2011 and 2012 age groups), while others will play in the Pre-Dev Program. Since the youngest age group of the league we play is 2012, the 2013 league teams would play up in this division for the Fall. Playing up a year may not be the best fit for all 2013 teams though, and so we will have these teams initially play in the Pre-Dev program for the Fall, with a view to playing in the league come Spring 2021 (first games are Feb 2021). As always, we will make our decision based on what is best for the long-term development of our players.

2014 Boys

All 2014 players will be invited to be part of our Pre-Dev program. Each year we typically have 40 players at this age group, with one or two players usually playing up with the 2013 boys in the Fall if we feel it is the right place for their development.

2011 Girls

We currently have 5 teams for the Spring 2020 season and so coaches will select teams based on their assessments of players from Spring. Typically we have an additional 20-30 new players join during the Spring tryout. Initially we will place these new players in a pool ahead of finalizing Fall season rosters in mid August.

2012 Girls

We currently have 4 teams for the Spring 2020 season and so coaches will select teams based on their assessments of players from Spring. Typically we have an additional 20-30 new players join during the Spring tryout. Initially we will place these new players in a pool ahead of finalizing Fall season rosters in mid August.

2013 Girls

We currently have 2 teams for the Spring 2020 season and so coaches will select teams based on their assessments of players from Spring. Typically we have an additional 10-20 new players join during the Spring tryout.

2014 Girls

All 2014 players will be invited to be part of our Pre-Dev program. Each year we typically have 10-20 players at this age group, with one or two players usually playing up with the 2013 girls in the Fall if we feel it is the right place for their development.

Extra Information

One of the unique things about Celtic is that we also hold a January tryout so adjust player placement based on development and so new players should be aware that they will have another opportunity to move to a higher level team at this time. Players performing well on their teams will also have opportunities to guest with higher level teams over the course of the Fall season.
